Contact Point Youth Development

All children have a right to the universal services of education and primary health care. Contact Point will show whether they are receiving those services.

Contact Point is a central government initiative which is being delivered nationally through local authorities. There is a nationwide struggle for local authorities to engage the voluntary sector within this project.

Northamptonshire County Council and Northamptonshire YMCA have joined forces to overcome this barrier. As a key member of the voluntary youth sector, Northamptonshire YMCA are well equipped to support the voluntary sector to implement Contact Point.

What is The Contact Point Development Project?

It is a pilot project operating specifically within the South Northamptonshire region and is the first one of its kind in the country. The project will offer information and guidance on what the Contact Point Directory is all about and how it will affect everyone working with children and young people.

The main aim of the project is to identify and assess the development needs of all voluntary youth organisations within this area. This is so that the Northamptonshire YMCA and Northamptonshire County Council can offer help, support and training where it is needed.

What Is Contact Point?

Contact Point is a key part of ‘Every Child Matters’ which aims to improve outcomes for children and young people. It is a basic directory which will store information on all children and young people under the age of 18 years.
